Increase Image Size in KB

Make a photo file larger, in KB, when a form refuses it as too small. Set the minimum and the tool raises the quality and, if needed, the size in pixels. Nothing is uploaded.

Drop a photo here

JPG, PNG or WebP. You can also paste a photo from the clipboard. It stays on your device.

File size

1 KB is counted as 1024 bytes here, so the file also passes a minimum that counts 1000.

Add a photo to see how small it gets.

Unticked, the photo also gets larger when a higher quality is not enough.

How to increase the size of an image in KB

  1. 1

    Add your photo

Drop a file on the tool, choose one from your device or paste it from the clipboard.

  2. 2

    Set the minimum

Type the smallest size the form allows, in KB. “At least” is already on.

  3. 3

    Check and download

Compare it with the original, then download the file. Its exact size is shown to the byte.

Why a form says the file is too small

Some forms set a smallest file size as well as a largest, for example at least 20 KB, to stop empty or tiny pictures. A photo that was compressed before, or a small crop, can fall under it.

How the tool adds KBWhat changes
Higher qualityMore fine detail is kept; the photo looks the same or better
More pixelsOnly if the quality alone is not enough: the photo is enlarged smoothly
Nothing hiddenNo padding or hidden data: the file is a normal photo

Does a larger file mean a better photo?

No. A higher quality cannot bring back detail that was lost before, and enlarging makes a photo softer. It only makes the file meet the minimum.

Both a minimum and a maximum

If the form asks for, say, 20 to 50 KB, set “At least” to 20 KB. If the file comes out over 50 KB, switch to “At most” and type 50 KB: the tool keeps it just under.

When the photo itself is the problem

Compression makes a photo lighter, not better: it cannot fix a blurry, dark or badly framed picture. If the photo is for a CV, a profile or an application and you have no good one, a professional headshot made from a few selfies gives you one.

Questions about increasing image size in KB

How do I increase the size of a photo in KB?

Add the photo, type the smallest size the form allows and download the result. The tool raises the quality first and the size in pixels only if it must.

Why does increasing KB work?

A JPG at a higher quality keeps more detail and needs more bytes; a photo with more pixels needs more too. The tool uses both, in that order, until the file is large enough.

Why is the file a little under the size I chose?

Sites count a kilobyte as 1000 or as 1024 bytes. The tool counts 1000, the stricter of the two, so the file fits either way. It keeps the best quality that fits, which lands just under the limit.

Will compressing make my photo look worse?

The smaller the file, the more detail goes. The tool keeps the highest quality that fits and makes the photo smaller before the quality gets low. Click “Show original” to compare before you download.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The photo is compressed by your browser, on your device. It is not sent to PicSuit or to anyone else.
