Bumble’s rules and tips, checked

Bumble asks for your face to be clearly visible in every photo and advises a first photo of just you, a smile and no sunglasses. The tool checks what it can measure in each photo, then the set as a whole, and puts the strongest photo of just you first.

CheckWhat works
First photoJust you, close enough to see your face clearly, facing the camera
FaceVisible in most photos, not hidden by sunglasses, a hat or the edge of the photo
DistanceA mix: close-ups and photos that show more of you and what you do
Sharpness and lightYour face in focus, lit from the front, not against the light
ExpressionA smile in at least some of the photos
The setNo two photos that are nearly the same, group photos further down

Why the order matters

People decide on the first photo, often in a second, and on a small phone screen. That is why the tool puts first the strongest photo of just you, with your face clear and close enough, and then mixes close-ups with photos that show more of you. Group photos and photos without your face come last.

What the checks cannot see

The tool measures the photos, not you. It does not judge your style, the places or whether the photos are recent and show you as you look now; those are for you to decide. It can also be wrong, for example with a hat, a mask or strong light, so where your eyes disagree, trust your eyes.

Questions about Bumble photos

What are Bumble's photo rules?

On Bumble Date your face must be clearly visible in every photo, and there are no watermarks or text over photos. Bumble also lists what is not allowed, such as nudity, underwear and indoor swimwear, and children without you in the photo.

How many photos can I add on Bumble?

Six. Bumble says from its own data that using 3 or more helps. The tool checks all six at once.

Can I wear sunglasses in my Bumble photos?

Bumble advises against photos where your face is covered, by sunglasses or a hat. The tool marks photos where your eyes seem hidden.

Does the tool rate my looks?

No. It measures the photo, not you: whether your face is visible, sharp and well lit, how it is framed, whether you face the camera and smile. It gives no score for attractiveness, age or style.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The photos are checked by your browser, on your device. They are not sent to PicSuit or to anyone else.
